Luke and Raff go to BBC
Recently Raff and I took a visit to the BBC studios in Reading to do an interview and play a song live on BBC radio Berkshire. This was to promote the biggest gig yet which we will be playing on December 2nd at the Hexagon in Reading ( Roughly 1500 people ).
You can listen to the interview by downloading it. Click the link further down the page to download.
It was a very cold morning. We were supposed to do the interview outside from a football field down the road from the studios so we drove off to it. When we got there it was bloomin freezeing. I looked at Raff,"oh you gotta be joking man, outside in the morning singing in this weather". Next to the football field was a community centre. "Why can't we do it in there", i said ," it'll be a lot warmer". "We can at least wait in there and get warmed-up", i said. In more ways than one as it were.
We went into the community centre and luckily I walked in just as someone was coming out of one of the rooms inside because the rest of the place was closed and locked. I called out to Raff "come in, I got a room". Raff came in. Once in the warm we decided to go through one of the songs we were going to play. But to my surprise there seemed to be music playing from somewhere already. I looked through a crack in the door to the next locked room and saw to my surprise an orchestra rehearsing next door. I turned back to Raff , "Could be a problem with us running through the songs man, there's an orchestra going through stuff next door and their dynamics might get a little ruined if we start belting out ramble on".
But luckily some of the equipment was failing to work in the extreme coldness outside. Thank F.
Jules the ever enthusiastic presenter bounced in cheerily and asked , "is it ok if we go and do this back at the studio instead?".
Raff and I nodded furiously,"definitely", we replied.
So off to the warm studios of the BBC. That's better , and definitely warmer.
Here are some piccys of the adventure...
Looks like a prison. Naw it was pretty really.
The gates of BBC Berkshire.
I'm not very good at this three photo thing but you get the jist,........ it's a big building.
In through the main door.
And Raff get's chatting , "yeah hi man, yeah I'm calling you from the BBC studios man, yeah groovy baby,.....yeah I know man,
it's early in the morning , (yawn).....so what are you doing up so early then?, what's that? oh yeah I called you...(yawn)"
The decor is nice though.
I'm not saying in what position I needed to be in to take this photo, use your imagination, but I was trying to get a shot of the lovely decor. Ahem.
Then through a few corridors to get changed and wait in one of the offices. (Yeah can you believe that, we wore our onstage costumes for a radio interview! It's all about the vibe cats, yeah like, synethesia and all that).
Bustling busy with all of... ; ok one person working.
Just time for a quick game of camera phone shoot-out.
All changed and ready, Raff chats with the tech guy.
Just about to go into the final studio (you can see it through the glass window).
And we're live..........

When we left it was finally starting to defrost and the sun was out in full.
And all was well.
Time for breakfast I'de say my old chap.
A pilgramage to Bonzo.
Recently whilst playing in Birmingham Matt and I went to pay our respects to Bonzo's grave at Rushock.
Finding the churchyard proved a little tricky, but after a few winds and turns through the country lanes Matt finally found the place we were searching for.
There were lots of things by his grave. On one of the many pairs of sticks was written "You giv me drumz like Ive never heard before". There were some flowers and, someone even left a doobie, which was really sweet.
The inscription on his grave reads,"He will always be Remembered in our hearts.Goodnight my love, God bless".
And so now our journey ends. We were very glad to pay our respects to one of the greatest drummers of all time. The churchyard in Rushock is the perfect place of rest for a man who was incredibly humble and down to earth. As you can see by the sequence of pictures below, if you walked forward and to the right of Bonham's Grave the churchyard was placed beautifully in the middle of the countryside.

Led Zeppelin convention DVD
Now available from the guys at Zep Express............
(or from us, contact us by e-mail by
clicking here) info@boot-led-zeppelin.co.uk
A great DVD of the event of the (2005) Led Zeppelin convention has been put together very kindly by the guys at Zep Express.
The DVD features our set at the Led Zeppelin convention which included an extended acoustic section.
Some of the songs on the DVD include Whole Lotta Love, Dazed and Confused, The Battle of Evermore, Going to California, and many many more.
The whole thing is mixed in Dolby 5.1 surround sound, so if you weren't there, you can definitely get a feel for what it was like on the night; groovy. :-)
THE
NEW BOOTLED ZEPPELIN 2005 DVD
Well, I suppose you'de like an explanation on that, ok then, here goes.
The new DVD will be made from concert footage of the 2005 gigs from Reading Concert Hall and Hove Town Hall.
It will probably be almost like a little mini "song remains the same"thing featuring backstage footage and extra features etc. (hey, don't get me wrong I don't mean it will be as good as the real thing, I bow down to the great zeppelin (luke assumes praying pose kneeling on floor and chants in a reverent manner)).
We're really excited about it, once it's finished it should be pretty damn good. Please E-mail the Bootzep Main site for any info.
I hear that apparently there is going to be two different mixes of the sound being done, one in stereo and one mixed in Dolby 5.1 surround sound, so if you weren't there, you can definitely get a feel for what it was like on the night; groovy. (Hmmm, strange, I got a real sense of Deja vu there....) :-)
The finished footage of Whole lotta love and Dazed and Confused looks excellent on the big screen, and I'm sure when the final THREE hour DVD is done it will be a tremendous testament to our love of playing in this band to 800 people on that wonderful night.
I'm gonna try and put some previews of the
DVD on this site if I can work out how to!
Watch this space for updates.
Led Zeppelin Convention.
Well, my my my did we have some fun! : )
There's just too much to say, so here's a quick snippet. Video screens playing live zep, guest speakers who saw zep for real, we played a 90 min set comprising of an electric set with an extended acoustic set thrown in, all happy with gig, got squiffy, had many drinks bought for us, talked to loads of cool people, Simply Led played a two hour set with a great version of white summer and a twenty minute version of Dazed and Confused (with Matt Martin (the same drummer in our band, he played for us and then for them ON THE SAME NIGHT!) shaving off his beard to make him look like two different Bonzo's!!), more drinks, more squiffy, ridiculousness etc etc etc, laughed lots, all good.
To top it all off, we previewed two tracks from our new soon to be available DVD of us at Reading Concert hall Feb 2005, which was really great of the guys at Zep Express.

More News.
The all new Boot-led-zeppelin DVD of Reading Concert Hall Feb 2004.
We had a very unfortunate piece of news recently with the beautifully recorded Reading gig.- (Reading Concert hall Feb 2004 this Feb just gone).
Matt the drummer managed to get a whole load of people from the music college that he works at to help record the gig audio and video to make a Boot-led zeppelin DVD.
The footage that came back of the gig was excellent and was being (and still is) mixed, edited etc, when doom struck.
The second set (by far the best) was being mixed down and synched to video when the hard drive that the audio was on burnt out and died.(we sent it off to get it fixed but it was completely un-recoverable).
I heard some of the songs before they dissapeared forever and they were some of the best we've done.
Ah well,we'll just have to do them even better next year!
The footage and audio of the first set is currently being put down to DVD that will soon be available from us. :)
Also an audio CD of the first set is available from us (now) too.
It was the first time that we had played such a big gig and so the organisation was truly exhausting. I was feeling very unwell by the time I got on stage (saved by a little break as the fire alarms went off, the people who went to the Reading gig will tell you all about that), but despite feeling so bad I gave my best shot, but only by the second set had I really warmed up.
I remember coming off stage at the end of the gig feeling elated at seeing a sold out venue of 800 people getting loose to our performance, but feeling very very ill. When I got off stage I was shaking and stumbled down the corridor to the bathroom, filled the sink up with cold water, and plunged my head in;man I felt rough. Luckily my best friend James (NoHypeRecords.co.uk) gave me a massage in the dressing room after the gig which made me feel human again.
This time we play Reading (in Feb 2005) I will try to do nothing before hand but RELAX.
The DVD tracks that have been done look really great. The Audio CD and DVD contain tracks from the first set which are...
Were Gonna Groove
Sick again
Bring it on home
